Pasqual Urrabazo's notes on deliverance

THE RENEWED MIND CONCEPT

The scriptures teach that "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he...". Prov 23:7

You cannot think negatively and believe positively, and you cannot believe negatively and live positively. Notice the following scriptures which emphasize the importance of your thought life.

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ," 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God". Romans 12:1-2

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding"
Proverbs 3:5

that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24

The following scriptures teach the value of confessing the Word:

"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus' Hebrews 3:1

"Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession." Hebrews 4:14

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23

These scriptures, or those you choose, should be written out and confessed out loud each day. In this way your faith will be strong. If these scriptures do not apply to your particular need, use scriptures accordingly.

LEARNING TO WALK IN YOUR DELIVERANCE

You need to understand that deliverance is only the beginning of a new walk. We must learn to walk through deliverance. It is not a quick fix.

The Word of God says in Joshua 24:15, "...choose for yourselves today whom you will serve", and each day we do choose whom we serve. James 4:7 says, "submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

Webster's dictionary defines resist as "withstand the forces or effect of".

Spiritual warfare is a most important part of walking in your deliverance. You must learn to recognize an attack from the devil and resist that attack. Which means you must learn to withstand the attack.

Ephesians 5:1 says, "it was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery."

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 says, "For though we walk in the flesh we do not war according to the flesh for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses."

We must begin each day learning the importance of our defensive weapons. Which are:

  1. Putting on our spiritual armor - Eph 6:10-18
  2. Renewing our mind through God's Word - 2 Cor 10:3-5, Rom 12:1-2, Eph 4:22-24
  3. Submitting ourselves to God - James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8-9

Each day we must clothe ourselves with these weapons. Next we must learn to recognize the attack and pick up our offensive weapons and begin our warfare. Our offensive weapons are:

  1. The Word - Eph 6:17

  2. The Blood - Rev 12:11
  3. The Holy Spirit - Matt 12:26
  4. The Name of Jesus - Mark 16:17
  5. Prayer, praise and a positive confession of faith - Rev 12:11 Matt 18:18-19, Psalm 149:6-8

These are the weapons that you use to fight the devil. When you use these weapons, you have the power and authority to defeat him. We can have the assurance that we will be victorious because we stand on 1 John 4:4, "greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world." This is not only a daily walk, but a daily fight. You can and will be victorious.

REQUIREMENTS TO KEEP YOUR DELIVERANCE

Evil spirits will seek to return. Jesus did not command them to go into "the Pit" or "hell" etc. (Matt 12:43,44). When Satan tempted Jesus, he planned to renew his attacks on Jesus at an "opportune time".(Luke 4:13).
